Management of special cargo transport by sea and land to various destinations in Spain
Alonso’s terminal in the Port of Sagunto, Intersagunto Terminales, has carried out a specialized operation at North Pier 2. The operation involved unloading three large electrical transformers—weighing 65, 115, and 239 tons, respectively—along with their associated accessories, onto the 166-meter-long Chinese-flagged vessel “Baltic Harmony.”
The goods, which originate in China, are destined for various power plants located in the municipalities of Fuendetodos (Zaragoza), Ricobayo (Zamora), and Usanos (Guadalajara). Due to the nature of the cargo, the operation required specific technical planning and the installation at the IST terminal of two self-propelled mobile cranes with high load capacities, which were necessary to ensure safe and efficient handling.
During the operation, two of the transformers were unloaded directly from the ship onto special transport trucks, ready for transport by road to their destinations. The third transformer has been temporarily stored at the Intersagunto Terminales facility pending its subsequent shipment, in accordance with the logistics plan.
In this operation, Intersagunto Terminales served as the stevedoring company, while Trans Ocean Transits, a freight forwarding company that is also part of Alonso’s Logistics Division, acted as the ship’s agent.
